Fall Fundraiser weekend – Nov 30 – Dec 2, 2018

We’re taking a break from our fundraiser performance this year but are still hosting flamenco workshops. Stephanie Pedraza returns for a weekend of workshops in flamenco song and dance. Workshop Information at this link.

Did you know Stephanie is also a singer/songwriter? Her original musical compositions are an honest  reflection of her rich latin-american background, of her experience growing up in Cali-Colombia and a perfect blend of traditional latin rhythms, root, rock, pop as well as English and Spanish lyrics. She’ll be performing a non-flamenco acoustic evening at Cafe Blackbird here in Edmonton on December 1st. www.stephaniepedraza.com

Festival Flashmob
After two years of flashmobbing, we’ve decided it’s time to pass the torch on to other members of the community and retire the festival flashmob. It’s been a great two years of performing at various venues and events throughout the city. We finished this year with a bang at festival sponsor MarrMac Dance‘s 50th Anniversary celebration.

Festival sponsor MarrMac Dance

We are so grateful for the continued support of MarrMac Dance. A vibrant force in the Edmonton dance scene since 1968, MarrMac offers a great line up of classes for all ages. Click here for a look at their current studio offerings and have a look at the video below showing off their students and telling a little bit about the history of the studio.

Sponsors! MarrMac Dance and ACMT

We are thrilled that Marr Mac Dance has sponsored us for some studio time for our workshop classes again this year. Ever supportive of flamenco in the city, this year marks their 50th anniversary.

Marr-Mac Dance & Theatre Arts offers an alternative studio atmosphere that trains dancers from 3 years to pre-professional level. They offer both recreational and competitive programs in a variety of disciplines in keeping with their philosophy to provide a supportive atmosphere in which to encourage students of all abilities

To celebrate this milestone year, they are having a gala at the studio. A formal catered event with drinks, performances, a walk down memory lane, and more! Our Festival Flashmob plans to pop up sometime during the evening. Hope to see you there! More information and tickets

Festival supporter the Alberta College of Massage Therapy offered free massages to our guest artists yesterday so they would be relaxed and ready for the show.

Touring Edmonton with our guest artists

We’ve been busy showing our artists around the city and giving interviews.

Global tv Edmonton hosted our Artistic Director Jane Ogilvie for an interview on Wednesday morning – you can watch it here

CTV Edmonton hosted Artistic Director Jane Ogilvie and guest artists Jairo Barrull and Irene la Sentio for two interviews on Wednesday afternoon – have a look here and here

While we were busy with interviews, the musicians took off on an epic walk through the river valley. From the downtown core all the way to Hawrelak park. What a perfect way to experience our city! We took everyone on a tour of West Edmonton Mall Thursday to make sure they got the full experience.

The show is tonight! Come kick off Spring with us at 8pm at the Winspear.
