The 3rd annual Edmonton Flamenco Festival presents
Sonia Olla & Ismael Fernández Flamenco Company
April 12, 2019 – 8pm at the Winspear Centre
Tickets go on sale February 14th at 10am – Just in time for Valentine’s Day! We will email the ticket link once information is available.
Direct from Spain, world-renowned flamenco artists, dancer and choreographer Sonia Olla and singer Ismael Fernández perform with their company in a fiery evening of traditional Spanish flamenco song, dance, and guitar.
Hailed by The New York Times as “a furnace of earthy sensuality”, Sonia Olla was born and raised in Barcelona when she earned a degree in Spanish Dance and Flamenco at the esteemed “Instituto de Teatro y Danza” in Barcelona.
Described by The Washington Post as the “most charismatic performer” and a “connection to the Gypsy source”, Ismael Fernández was born in Seville. Of Gypsy descent, he grew up performing in flamenco festivals throughout the world with his internationally renowned family, “La Familia Fernández”.
Partners on and off the stage, Sonia and Ismael have also worked with pop icon Madonna in preparation for her “Rebel Heart Tour” (2015-2016) and Ricky Martin for his recent Las Vegas Show (2017).
Ismael was a featured artist at the first Edmonton Flamenco Festival in 2017. We are thrilled to have him back, this time with his wife and their guests, featuring:
Sonia Olla – dancer
Ismael Fernández – singer
Pol Vaquero – dancer
Jonathan Reyes Jiménez – singer
Víctor Márquez “El Tomate” – guitarist
Workshops with our guest artists are planned for April 13st and 14th. Information coming soon.
We’ve been busy showing our artists around the city and giving interviews.

While we were busy with interviews, the musicians took off on an epic walk through the river valley. From the downtown core all the way to Hawrelak park. What a perfect way to experience our city! We took everyone on a tour of West Edmonton Mall Thursday to make sure they got the full experience.
The show is tonight! Come kick off Spring with us at 8pm at the Winspear.
Thanks to Roger Levesque at the Edmonton Journal for a fantastic interview with our guest artist Jairo Barrull – have a read at this link
